A very sincere write-up by Lindsay Cappotelli, widowed wife of the late Matt Cappotelli. If you’re a sucker for a love story, there may never be another greater than the love that they shared.
My life will never be the same without you by my side, without your hand to hold, and without your smile to see every day. I wanted to spend a lifetime with you…I wanted to be 80 years old, still holding your hand. And that would have been us, we would have been one of the ones that made it.
One of the biggest pieces of the puzzle that formed The Undertaker was his eerie mouthpiece Paul Bearer. Much smaller than “the deadman”, Bearer would often vocalize The Undertaker’s emotions, which were typically various stages of anger. Shouting in a high pitched voice, Bearer’s proclamations usually started or ended with “Ohhhh yeeeesss!” as he set the tone for the destruction that was to come. Holding The Undertaker’s signature urn, which seemed to be the helm of The Undertaker’s supernatural abilities, Bearer would serve The Undertaker for over a decade, off and on, and would stand proudly by his side through reigns as the WWF Champion.
Former Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champions Angelina Love and Velvet Sky recently competed overseas in Australia for House Of Hardcore. During their stay, the two tried a local favorite, Vegemite, which if used correctly actually tastes pretty good. That’s if you spread it VERY lightly, but in large clumps, that’s a different story. The Beautiful People take a minute while at the airport in Sydney to give the flavor a taste.
June 19th was a day that Rusev’s life changed forever. With the WWE Universe solidly behind him, Rusev gained a huge victory in a gauntlet match which also included Big E, Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, and The Miz to become the number one contender for AJ Styles’ WWE Championship. Over the last year, Rusev has gone from one of the most disda inable heels on the program to being absolutely adored, with fans worldwide celebrating Rusev Day along with the vocal stylings of Rusev’s accomplice Aiden English. With that being said, at tonight’s Extreme Rules event, the match is going down between Styles and Rusev with the top prize in the company on the line.
Born in Bulgaria, the 33 year old Rusev got his start in professional wrestling in 2008, emigrating to the United States to kickstart his career after being a lifelong fan. Rusev began training under Gangrel and Rikishi and would make his in-ring debut on November 22nd, 2008, defeating Aerial Star. Following his debut, he would continue wrestling across the United States in California, getting signed to the WWE less than two years after his debut match and beginning working for the company in Florida Championship Wrestling under the name Alexander Rusev. Despite suffering a broken neck, Rusev continued wrestling and would eventually adopt Lana as his manager. The two debuted on SmackDown in April of 2014 after competing in the Royal Rumble match that same year.
It didn’t take long for Rusev to make a name for himself and to become one of the top threats on WWE television. Rusev’s slaying of wrestlers who represented America, such as Jack Swagger and Mark Henry, put a huge target on his back, to which Rusev answered by taking out every challenger who came his way with The Accolade, a move in wh ich he sits on his opponents’ backs, pulls their arms behind his legs, and stretches them backward by their neck.
After an in-ring encounter with The Rock and a victory over Sheamus for the WWE United States Championship, it became apparent that Rusev would be an undeniable presence in the company. Nearly one year into his WWE televised career, Rusev suffered his first loss at WrestleMania 31 to John Cena, losing the United States C hampionship in the process. As time went on, Rusev would kick Lana from his side and join forces with Sheamus, Wade Barrett, and Alberto Del Rio in a group known as The League Of Nations, a short-lived faction that Rusev would eventually walk out on after it was proven to be unsuccessful. Rusev shifted his focus back to the WWE United States Championship, which he won by defeating Kalisto at Extreme Rules in 2015. The completion of the year would see Rusev feuding with Roman Reigns, Enzo Amore, and Jinder Mahal, whom Rusev would begin teaming with for a short period before being taken off of television due to an injury.
In 2017, Rusev would return to WWE television and would immediately begin feuding with Randy Orton, wh om he assaulted on SmackDown and would be given the key to the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Rusev’s hometown. It was on that day that Rusev declared that it was Rusev Day, when he and Aiden English began appearing together as English’s golden voice would be the accompanying musical performance of his special day. It wasn’t the best day for Rusev, who (along with English) was attacked by Orton. Despite this, Rusev and English continued declaring that every day is Rusev day, eventually gaining the support of the crowd and even Knox County, Tennessee, who recently declared that July 10th, 2018 was indeed Rusev Day:
Rusev has had a strong career in the WWE, with 14 pay per view victories and two runs as the WWE United States Champion. As one of SmackDown’s most popular wrestlers, I believe the fans would back Rusev as their champion 100%, but he’s got a hell of a mountain to climb against the current champion AJ Styles. Following a feud with Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ has proven yet again that “The Face That Runs The Place” is a legitimate champ with zero fear to defend th at title. With that in mind, I look forward to seeing tonight’s main event, only on the WWE Network!
Two things that people loved about Ohio Valley Wrestling are that everybody had a character and role on television, and every championship had importance behind it. The OVW Television Championship was hotly contended by a bevy of technical wrestling, including Brent Albright, the inaugural champion who was forced to vacate the championship when he won the OVW Heavyweight Championship. After losing the title, Albright went on the hunt for the Television Championship, which was held by the 19-year old Kenn Doane. Doane, a part of Bolin Services, was more than arrogant at his young age due to t he success he’d had in the group. Having been trained by Killer Kowalski and being surrounded by a crew of wrestlers watching his back, Doane had a lot to fight for and more to defend in this great match between two of OVW’s finest.
The amount of awkwardness and discomfort on his face bodied me.
A shot of a young Akira Tozawa, 19 years old, right before his debut match took place at Dragon Gate’s Glorious Gate 2005. Tozawa’s first match ended with a loss in less than 5 minutes to Don Fujii.
Taking a look at Tozawa’s Instagram, it’s inspiring to see how his hard work has paid off. He went from being quite slender as in the photo above to a bit… rotund as seen below, back to the shredded warrior we know him as today.
To fans of Impact Wrestling, nobody could have seen the team of Allie and Rosemary coming, and yet, here they are. Although the pair have never teamed in the ring, there is a series about the duo known as Masters Of The Multiverse that’s worth checking out. Here’s the latest episode, featuring appearances by Eddie Kingston, Eli Drake, and Caleb Konley. It’s interesting and very cool to see the two taking the initiative to do something different and inventive!
One accolade that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson boasts on his resume is that he’s the first- and to date, only- wrestler to host Saturday Night Live. He wouldn’t be the only wrestler to appear on the show, however, as he was soon joined by his WrestleMania 2000 opponents; Triple H, The Big Show, and Mick Foley.
Sixteen years after his second reign as champion ended, the WCW United States Championship found its way back to the waist of Roddy Piper following his defeat of his cousin Bret “Hit Man” Hart. Piper’s two previous runs with the title took place when it was contested under Jim Crockett Promotions, but his third and final run was in World Championship Wrestling. Piper reigned as champion for 13 days before he was defeated by Scott Hall at SuperBrawl IX.
Having lost her match earlier in the evening against Charlie Kruel, Rachel Bostic led her husband Dylan Bostic to the ring with hopes that one of the two would procure a victory. Only one thing stood in their way… a very imposing threat by the name of Khris Kaliber, the EMERGE Champion, whose reign has included a laundry list of great wrestlers who’ve tried- and failed, to win the title. Bostic himself would give it his best shot, and with a wealth of experience on his side, who’s to say he wouldn’t be the one to topple Kaliber?
Two logos together that somehow make no sense and make all the sense in the world.
During a short-lived feud between Owen Hart and the duo of Bad News Allen and Makhan Singh, Hart would be beaten down on a few occasions as it became increasingly obvious that he couldn’t defend himself against the two titans. That is, until he found backup in Jason The Terrible, a masked monster who wielded an ax as he prepared to topple anyone who made an enemy out of the man who’d befriended him. Jason and Owen teamed for less than a month but gained three victories over their adversaries before they finally got the hint!
I’ve never been one to check out game shows, but when it was announced that several pro wrestlers would be featured on The Weakest Link, I made sure to tune in! Wrestlers featured on this edition of the show are William Regal, Stephanie McMahon, Booker T, Kurt Angle, The Big Show, Trish Stratus, Lita, and Triple H, who was injured when this episode aired. This has some great comical moments, like for example, did you know Thanksgiving is in October? At least, in Houston…
Although the team of real life brothers Stevie Ray and Booker T debuted with WCW in August of 1993, they didn’t find singles success until they started to keep it real. Originally known as Kole and Kane, the team known as Harlem Heat were villainous without direction- that is, until they met Sister Sherri. With several champions under her wing, Sherri knew what it would take to help the duo find success by way of championship gold- which she managed them to. On December 8th, 1994, Harlem Heat defeated Stars And Stripes for the WCW World Tag Team Championships and would hold the titles for nearly half a year. This was their first of ten championship reigns as a duo!
